ElevenLabs Productions prices audiobooks from $200 per finished hour, which, by our estimate, comes to from $2,150 for a 100,000-word novel.¹ TomeVox charges a flat price per book instead: $79 Narrated or $229 Performed for the same novel, and your first chapter is free, in the voice you pick.

You have a finished manuscript and no wish to spend weeks editing audio. Two services will do the whole job for you: ElevenLabs Productions and TomeVox. Both take the text and hand back a finished audiobook. They price that job in very different ways, and for a typical novel the difference is about two thousand dollars.

How much does ElevenLabs Productions cost per audiobook?

ElevenLabs Productions is a done-for-you, human-assisted service from ElevenLabs, priced per finished hour of audio. Audiobooks start at $200 per finished hour on the Self Serve plan, according to the ElevenLabs pricing page (checked October 2026). Enterprise customers can get up to 25% off.¹

A finished hour is one hour of the final audiobook as a listener hears it, so a per-hour price follows the length of the recording, not the length of the manuscript. The ElevenLabs Productions price buys human help. Per the ElevenLabs Productions page, a team of experts handles pronunciation, prosody, pauses and post-processing. Productions audiobooks can be single-voice or multi-cast, drawing on more than 10,000 library voices or a voice clone, with sound design as an add-on, in English, French, German or Spanish. Audio comes as MP3 or WAV, per chapter, and under the Productions Terms you own the output.

What does TomeVox charge per book?

TomeVox charges one flat price per book, set by word count, so the price is known before you upload. Every TomeVox book gets one voice, from one of two ranges: Narrated or Performed.²

Up to 60k / 100k / 150k words. Over 150,000 words: $0.0005 (Narrated) or $0.0015 (Performed) per extra word.

Narrated and Performed both deliver the same files: an M4B with chapter markers plus MP3, with commercial rights. Performed covers English, Spanish and Swedish for now, with more languages and multi-voice casts coming soon; Narrated covers 13 languages today.

What does one novel cost, drawn to scale?

For one novel at 100,000 words, ElevenLabs Productions is estimated from $2,150. TomeVox Performed costs $229, about a ninth of that, and TomeVox Narrated costs $79, about a 27th.

With TomeVox, your first chapter is free, in the voice you pick, with no card. You upload your book, hear your own first chapter in that voice before you buy the audiobook, and pay only if you buy it. A paid TomeVox audiobook is ready in about 24 hours, often less.

An ElevenLabs Productions order is priced per finished hour. Its Productions Terms allow short trial samples, but checkout comes before the full Production is made, and ElevenLabs says turnaround times are shown before checkout. Most Productions are delivered in hours or days, per ElevenLabs. On revisions, the Productions Terms (updated 31 March 2026) state that “additional iterations in respect of the Revised Output will not be provided.”
